Explore intriguing historical sites, quaint towns and villages and breath-taking nature in beautiful Sardinia.

The scenery here is sure to delight, from spectacular coastal drives to the thousands of Bronze Age 'nuraghi', or tower-fortresses, that are scattered across the island. Sardinia tours also provide the chance to taste the distinctive local cuisine, which has little in common with the more familiar dishes of the mainland.

Costa Smeralda Seascape, Sardinia, Italy

Home to some of the most picturesque beaches in Europe, the region is sure to satisfy cravings for soft white sand and sparkling blue waters. A favourite for Sardinia holidays among the rich and famous since the 1960s, Costa Smeralda boasts stunning beaches, elegant resorts and a plethora of huge yachts. Elsewhere, the dramatic dunes and rugged cliffs of the Costa Verde and the pristine Costa del Sud on the southern stretch of the island offer plenty of glorious spots for beach lazing with a good book. Away from the usual tourist trail, the island's southwest corner features deserted beaches, Roman ruins and rugged mountainous landscapes, best explored on our sensational Sardinia escorted tours.

Food & Drink in Sardinia

As an island of shepherds, you can expect to sample a number of fantastic cheeses. If you're a fan of unique flavours of cheese, look out for axridda, calcagno, fiore sardo and caprino.

Sardinian pasta differs greatly from those of mainland Italy, but is equally delicious. Try lorighittas, twisted, rope-like creations that can only be made by hand or fregula, which is similar to couscous.

Be sure to savour a glass of mirto, Sardinia's national drink. Made from myrtle berries, the sweet liqueur is usually taken as a digestivo following a meal.
